1. Recording and Preserving the Archives This project involved listing the contents of each of five collections of archival material to international standards. A database was created to index the archives and record the information contained within each document. All the material in the archives have been microfilmed, whilst the original archives have been conserved and systematically ordered for long-term storage. The microfilm archive master is held by the Bodleian Library, and diazo copies of the archive are held by the Ashmolean Museum and Oxfordshire County Record Office. Basic information about the archives and a searchable version of the database are available on this website (Historic Oxfordshire). The information from this archive has been integrated into Oxfordshire's Sites and Monuments Record (SMR) where information is available for use in the screening of planning applications and for local history and other research. |
